Lesson in Patience

The beginning of this week had been so HARD! Sunday night Brooklyn started to act different. Monday morning she woke up really needy. And was very difficult all day. She'd want to sit on my lap, then want down. I'd put her down and she'd scream and cry to get back up. She couldn't do anything by herself. I heard her cry and whine all day. By Tuesday I was going crazy. When I put her down for her nap she refused to sleep. Finally at some point I had had it. She started to whine and I said kinda loudly (not yelling at her) "Do you want to go nigh nigh? Well you're going" and I put her in the crib. She just kept crying, but I left her in there for a bit. I wasn't ready to have her downstairs. So after a little bit I went and got her. I just needed that time to reenergize so I could make it until bedtime. I didn't need to wait long Brooklyn fell asleep in my arms at 6:50pm. I tried waking her up to let her play a little before bed but she really didn't want that. I laid her in the crib and I can still her the very sad cry. It wasn't a normal cry so I brought her into my bed. Bryant was pulling a really late nighter at the school so I figured it would be ok.

Now on to my lesson. I should have written it down right after it happened because it was pretty powerful. I really hope I can convey it how it was. Anyway Brooklyn rolled around for a bit in the bed and then curled up into me and went to sleep. She looked so sweet and precious. Then I started thinking about what tomorrow was going to be like. I then said my nightly prayer. I was apologizing for not being as patient of a parent today as I had hoped I would have been, and then asking for help to be patient with Brooklyn tomorrow. I was a little scared knowing that since I was praying for patience I was going to be put in situations where I could practice it. :) You know what I mean. But that wasn't the case. Right in the middle of my prayer I started to have flashback memories of my little Tookies. She was smiling at me and calling me mama, then bringing me her favorite toy and having me play with her, giving me big hugs and kissed, etc! I just started crying and had to lean over and give her a kiss. I felt so much love for her. All the frustration I was feeling from the past couple days instantly went away. I was in love with that little girl. She was everything I wanted in life. I knew I could wake up the next day and handle any type of attitude she had. It was a very good experience for me.

To finish the story Brooklyn slept till 8:15am, 13 1/2 hrs. She woke up so happy leaned over and gave me a hug, so sweet. When she sat up she farted and said poopy. Ha Ha that has nothing to do with the story but it was funny, and she was right. Moving on she was doing good play with herself and then I heard her cough. Right then I put everything together. Sunday was her last day taking medicine for her ear infections. Which meant her ear infections probably didn't clear up all the way. I called her doctor and took her in. Brooklyn has double ear infections. And of course I feel horrible for getting frustrated when all along she was in pain :(
But after this experience I am going to remember all those moments that make me love Brooklyn and be the best most patient parent ever!!!!

I thought I'd post some pictures of her from the past. (This computer doesn't have all the my pictures so here's what I found)

The Klug Family!

My First Post!

So this is my very first post. I've had a hard time getting my blog started. I'm not very crafty but I'm trying. Anyway I guess for my very first post I'd like to talk about my family.
I have been married to Bryant for 4 years as of Dec. 29th! Wow time goes by fast but I feel like we've done a lot and grown up a lot. We got married in the Bountiful Temple (So Beautiful!!!) and settled into a basement apartment in West Jordan. When I say settled I mean as settled as Bry and I can get. Here is a list of all the places we've lived in the last 4 years. Basement apartment in West Jordan, Brother-in-laws (only a couple weeks), South Salt Lake, My mom's (For 2 months while we prepared to move to Oregon), Beaverton, OR, His mom's (while we found a place in Provo), Provo #1, and finally the apartment we live in now Provo #2. If you were counting we have moved 8 times!!! No more please. I could give you all the reasons for each time we moved but you really don't care. I will talk about Oregon because that is where I grew up and the best thing ever happened. Bryant is studying Indrustrial Design. He hopes to design basketball shoes. Anyway BYU is pretty much the only school in UT with that program and Bry didn't think he'd get in so he began his search for the perfect school. Long story short he decided to go with the Art Institute of Portland. It was a 2 year program. We moved to Oregon Sept. 21st, 2007. It was so hard saying bye to family and friends. I don't even like to think of it because I can still remember how I felt and I get teary eyed. So well move on. At first it was hard and I was lonely. Bryant went to school all day and then work. It took me 2 months to find a job. But what really helped me was we decided to be very out there and not back row sitters in church. What a wonderful blessing! We LOVED that ward, thank you everyone in the Five Oaks ward for making it so great. What I learned from that experience is you are never alone, and the church is the same anywhere you go. Being very involved in the church made me a happier person! So while I was out there we had great friends come visit us for Thanksgiving! How fun was that. We got to make our first turkey on our own and then visit Seattle. That was fun having the Willes' visit. Christmas eve I made a ham. Then for our first Christmas on our own we went to a family in the wards house and play games with them. That was very nice of the Jensen's to let us be part of their Christmas. I know our parents appreciated them taking us in. As you can see I grew up being there, I made a turkey and ham! Very impressive, but then not to long after Christmas I got some life changing news... I was pregnant. Now what I didn't explain was that I had miscarried Feb. '07 and shortly after starting trying for a baby. It wasn't happening like I had hoped and would get very frustrated and I remember one phone I made to my mom from Oregon. She told me that it happens when it's suppose to happen. She wasn't expecting my reaction I started crying and said OH SO 15 YEAR OLDS ARE SUPPOSE TO HAVE ONE BUT NOT ME WHO IS MARRIED AND REALLY WANTING IT. She just said I'm sorry I don't know what to say. So Anyway I got pregnant 2 months later and all I can say is I am truly grateful Heavenly Father sees the whole picture! It was exactly when it was suppose to happen. We ended up moving back to UT the beginning of April so Bryant could attend BYU (another huge testimony builder but I'm already writing way to much so I'll skip that) And I found out if I had seen my dr. one more time in Oregon we would have owed him so much plus paying the dr. out here. Wow what can I say other then what a blessing. So now Bryant is attending BYU and will Graduate April 2011 :) Can't wait for that!
Now on to my little girl. Brooklyn Rae Klug was born Sept. 21st, 2008 (if you notice the date it's exactly a year from the day we took off for Oregon) She was 6 lbs 14 oz and 18.5 inches long. She is the best thing that ever happened to me for several reasons. She was so kind to me to only put me through 4-5 hours of labor. (without an epidural I'd like to add). If that wasn't enough I am way littler then I was. Best diet ever was having her. Ok so seriously she is my greatest joy in life! I stay home with her everyday and it's great. I held her everyday all day for the longest time. I will cherish all those moments because I wont be able to do that with any of my other children. Sometimes I wonder what I've done to get such a wonderful little girl. The day I had her I started crying and told Bry I never wanted her to grow up. And she I guess has taken that as a challenge to do it faster. She crawled early started walking 3 days before she was 9 months. At a year she could say roughly 20 words and that keeps growing. She's very smart it's amazing. She is now 15 months and the other day she grabbed a diaper waved it and laid down on the floor. We said do you want your diaper changed and she said yes. She was wet. Then a couple minutes later she did it again and we said no. She walked up to us and we could smell the dirty diaper. She was right. So then a couple days after that she looked at me and said "poop bum". I said did you poop and she nodded. Again she was right. Looks like we will be potty training very soon. So I said I didn't want her to grow up, but I am loving it! I look forward to each new day and each new accomplishment for her. Every stage of a child growing up (so far) is wonderful. I smile and laugh all day. She is a very funny little girl. 2 weeks ago in church Bryant had her in Priesthood with him and Brooklyn kept telling the guy next to them Hi and he was polite and say it back but wasn't to interested in her and when he'd look away Brookies would make faces at him and as soon as he looked at her she'd smile. How do they know these things so young!!! Anyway there are so many stories I could tell and believe me I love telling them. I'm a very proud Mother. Life is great with her. She is my best friend and I hope she's not embarrassed to tell her High School friends that :)
I am very sorry I didn't intend on having this be so long. I really get side tracked very easily! So I'm sure that a lot of this doesn't make sense to anyone other than me, but I have to say that I have loved looking back and remembering these things!!!!!
