Book a Week: Owl Moon

Owl Moon
by: Jane Yolen

The book is about a little girl who finally gets to go owling with his dad. They go out in the middle of a winter night to spot an owl. The dad "who's" for the owl which was by far Brooklyn and Avery's favorite part. I have been hearing "whoing" all week! :)

We read the book and then put Avery done for her nap so we could pull out the paint

 Brooklyn loves painting.

Her tongue was out most of the time :)

Brooklyn's owls. She wanted everyone to know which one was the mom and which one was the dad. And she insisted on the girl having pink eyes, kinda creepy if you ask me :)

"Whoo-whoo-who-who-who-whoooooo."

We are going to be doing Halloween Themed projects this month and I'm super excited for that. We haven't gotten any books picked yet so if you have some favorites, please share! :)

Brooklyn's 4

Friday September 21st Brooklyn turned 4! I can not believe my baby is 4 already. It has gone by so fast, but yet feels like she's just always been here with me. I love her so much. She is a brilliant, silly, talented, energetic little girl. She is so much fun to have around, and is always making me laugh. Some times she acts like she's a teenager and can get some major attitude, but that's ok I still think she's a keeper! I feel so blessed to be her mom. I love you Brookies!!!!

Last time going to be as a 3 year old.

 Birthday breakfast.

 My birthday girl!

We went to lunch with daddy at Nike.

The cafeteria lady let Brooklyn have a free cookie for her bday.

 Little Aves

Since we don't have family around to do a party with, I wanted to make her bday super fun and special. I let her make her own birthday cake.

I let her do everything!

Taste test....

It passed!

She was so cute decorating it.

She had done cute little dots and designs and then she just kept going and going :)

 Silly girls

For dinner we went to one of her favorite places. Burgerville.

I was telling her 4 years ago I was holding her and she was my baby, and she still is. She just kept laughing. Laugh now, but I will be kissing you good bye in front of you high school baby girl!

She loved benefitting from Brooklyn's special day.

On the way home I ran into Fred Meyer and surprised her with a couple balloons. She loved this one and named it Charlotte. She really talked to it like it was her friend! (Today the fan sliced a whole in Charlotte and she really cried :( )

When we got home we played pin the tiarra on the poster. We had a lot of fun. All of us took turns. Then she opened some presents that had come in the mail from her loving family. And then of course it was cake time :) She was very happy with her cake.

Happy birthday my favorite curly haired little girl!
We love you

Movie, Lunch and Goodbye

Monday morning Paul and Terri packed. We then went to the Nike employee store, the only reason people come visit us!

 :( Bye grandma and grandpa!

After the shopping we caught a movie. We saw 'The Odd Life of Timothy Greene".

 Walking with grandpa.

 The gang.

We ate Chinese for lunch.

Thank you for coming to see us. It really means a lot to us that you would take time from work to come up to Oregon. I know it meant a lot to Brooklyn as well. It was a super fun weekend! Love you guys!

Church and a walk.

Sunday was nice. We have 1 o'clock church so we just took our time getting ready. We all went to sacrament and then Paul and Terri came home and brought Avery with them so she could take a nap. That was wonderful! Normally Sundays are a nightmare because church is in the middle of naptime. When we got home we made dinner and then took a walk in the Nature Park just down the street from us.

Grandma straightened Brookies hair for church and Avery wanted hers too.

This picture was taken to show that Grandma stole the ipad from Avery cause she loved the game Aves was playing :)

Trying to look scared out in the woods, but I just look like I need to go potty!

Their scared picture turned out so much better.

Grandma and my cute babies!

Christmas came early

Long story short... Terri hear Bryant and I talking about if I bought stuff I wanted I would have a kitchen aid, sewing machine, and a dresser. She said, "You still don't have a dresser? Lets get you one for Christmas." I agreed! I have been wanting one for a very long time. Saturday when we got home from the hike we laid the kids down and then went out to Ikea. We examined them all and she told me what she thought would be best. I trust her and went with her pick. We got it home and she instantly wanted to get to work putting it together. I am grateful, because it would have been just me doing, Bryant does not have the patience for this stuff. There is no way I could have done it alone! We spent hours assembling the dresser while the men watched the big BYU/UTE game. We watched a bunch of episodes of Castle to help pass the time.

I am such a nerd, but I am super excited to have a dresser! It makes me so happy every time I walk into my room. :) THANK YOU SO MUCH TERRI! You are the best and I really did enjoy putting it together with you, Castle helped too :)

The girls colored on the big boxes, before we put them to bed.

 Here we go.

She's laughing and holding up one finger to show we finally have 1 drawer done. :)

We never took a picture of the dresser all put together and in place, but you can see it here.

A Book a Week: There's a Wocket in my Pocket.

There's a Wocket in my Pocket
by Dr. Seuss

I love Dr. Seuss. His books are so much fun. We have this book and have read it many times, but still thought it would be fun to do an activity with. We read it and then the girls made their own little creatures. Once they were made and cut out Brooklyn put them around the house and Daddy found them. She really loved this. She took a lot of time to make her little friends, and thought it was fun playing hide-n-seek with them :) Daddy was a great sport too. When he found them he would try and give them a name that rhymed with where they were!

Avery saw Brooklyn lean in and the little copier she is, she had to do it too :)

Getting a little inspiration from Dr. Seuss.

Quick drawing lesson from daddy.

The top row daddy drew and the bottom row Brooklyn did.

Brooklyn said this one was an Alien.

Brooklyn drew this and daddy added a little finishing details.

This is Avery's. :)

What Lindsey did with this was so cute, you have to check it out!

Next week is 'Owl Moon' by: Jane Yolen. We're going to make owls out of toilet paper rolls.
